Nine Years of Wedded Bliss
As of today, Patrick and I have been married nine years.
Wow! Nine years.
It sounds so long in some ways. Yet in others, it seems so short.
The other night I was watching Cake Boss . . . stay with me . . . I'm going somewhere with this . . . there was a couple that was celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary. They were 94 and 95 years old. When asked about surviving 75 years of marriage they didn't go into some deep philosophical conversation about the foundations of a good marriage. They stated, ever so simply, that yes they had fights and arguments, but they always worked to fix whatever was wrong. Isn't that what marriage is supposed to be about? You don't get mad and give up. You may get mad, but you better be willing to get over it also.
Not that I'm mad. I'm just making a point. Nine years is just a drop in the bucket. And I'm expecting many more wonderful years. They may not be perfect, but they will be fun.
Happy Nine Year Anniversary to the greatest husband on Earth!
