Impromptu Field Trip

A couple weeks ago we had to go to Austin to get some of our adoption documents apostilled (if you care you can click on the word for a definition . . . if you don't read on). We went on a Monday, and decided to let Andrew skip school and go with us so he could see the Capitol building. That's one of the benefits of the school he attends. They actually encourage things like this. Obviously, school attendance is important, but the school also feels that real life experiences with family are just as important.

The Texas Capitol building is gorgeous, but I didn't know how interested Andrew would be. Surprisingly, he loved it.

Seriously, why is it so hard to get him to take a decent picture?

Future in politics? I think so.

Beach Weekend

Over a month ago, we packed up and headed with my sister's family, in the pouring rain, to spend the weekend at the beach. The weather wasn't ideal. A cool front blew in, and it was crazy windy. But we didn't care. We relaxed and ate and played games and ate and played in the sand and ate and swam (well everyone else swam . . . the pool was cold) and then ate some more.

Now time for a picture overload . . . enjoy!

Staying Warm

.
On Sunday, the day we left, the sun came out, the wind died down (as much as it does at the beach anyway), and the day was absolutely beautiful. So we took advantage of the beautiful weather before we headed home.

My brother-in-law attempting to break something. What's a trip to the beach without a visit to the local ER? (Thankfully, we didn't have to find out.)

Even with the crazy weather, it was a great weekend and the perfect ending to summer and welcome to fall.
